Old Vines, Singular Wines: A Tribute to 100 Years of Rioja 🍷

As part of our Centennial celebrations, we had the honor of hosting a special presentation at ProWein 2025 led by Peter Arijs, Education and Global Projects Manager at Rioja, highlighting the rich heritage of old vineyards in our region.

Peter shared key insights into the importance of these vineyards, underlining their legacy, resilience, sustainability, and crucial role in Rioja’s future. He also presented striking figures that reflect the scale of this heritage:

📊 20,000 ha of vineyards over 35 years old (30% of total surface)

📊 Over 5,000 ha of vineyards over 50 years old

During the session, 52 attendees from 13 different countries enjoyed a tasting of wines made exclusively from old vines, including four exceptional wines from centenarian vineyards. A sensory and cultural journey that allowed us to rediscover the essence of Rioja.
