Navaridas
Rioja Alavesa

Navaridas

Wine and wineries predominate in Navaridas, which is ideally located for their production.

One of the biggest problems suffered by Rioja Alavesa in recent years has been the massive deforestation of its woods as a result of the expansion of Mediterranean-type crops in the area. The problem has been so serious the forests have almost disappeared.

Therefore, saving the scrublands of Navaridas, along with those of Leza and Cripán, has become an issue of great environmental interest. It has even been classified as an Area of Natural Interest under the Territorial Planning Guidelines of the Basque Country.

It also has an archaeological site: the Poblado (settlement) of Alto de Castejón, declared a Quality Cultural Site with the category of Monumental Complex.
