    Elvillar de Álava
Elvillar is a small village in Rioja Alavesa that wants for nothing; it also has the appearance of a fortress locality.
Most of the local people work on the land; vineyards and cereal fields are very common.
The quality and characteristics of its wines are determined by the local geology and climate, which give the grapes a unique flavour.
The priest and vine-grower Manuel Quintano implanted a winemaking technique in La Rioja that emerged in the early 18th century in Bordeaux, the same one for which wines from Rioja Alavesa are now known on the market.
In Álava the Tempranillo grape variety and sparkling wines are very important.
