El Arca

VITICULTURE El Arca 2017 is the first wine of Viñedo Singular de Queirón. It is a unique wine that represents the essence of one of the most genuine terroirs of ancestral Rioja viticulture, El Arca, a Garnacha estate of less than one hectare located at the northern end of the castle of Quel for which there are records as far back as 1892. Soil texture: Franco-sandy (28.8% Loam, 61.4% Sand, 9.70% Clay). HARVEST 2017 A year drastically marked by the unusual frost at the end of April and the drought throughout the growing season. An extremely dry year and very hot in summer. Very low production, which in the case of L'Arche was combined with extremely high quality berries. Colour: Clean, vigorous, bright and with a high layer of colour. Aroma: It is a wine that is explosive, powerful, with a complex bouquet due to the perfect blend between the fruit, the 'terroir' expressed by the vineyard itself and the ageing aromas from the time spent in French oak. At the beginning there are notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, blackcurrant, blackcurrant and stewed fruit of the Garnacha variety, as well as truffle and undergrowth notes. It then shows notes of pastry, sultanas, plums, figs, spicy notes, coffee and cocoa. Taste: In the mouth it is full-bodied, voluptuous, sensual, very meaty, long, balanced and with a great passage. There is an exquisite balance between acidity and tannins. In the retronasal phase it again displays its spirit with a great bouquet and power, showing again all the complexity and delicate finesse shown in the retronasal phase.
