Sobre la bodega
If you are thinking of visiting one of the wineries in La Rioja, you cannot miss Ontañón and its particular Wine Temple in Logroño. A visit to a different winery! Where you will learn in a fun way the Tasting Rituals at the Wine Bar "La Sacristía", accompanied by tasty tapas, in addition to getting to know the wine spaces (tank and barrel rooms and the underground bottle rack). It is undoubtedly one of the most special wineries in the appellation and is just 5 minutes by car from the center of Logroño.
The Pérez Cuevas Family, founders of Bodegas Ontañón, has been connected to the land and wine for more than 80 years. Already then, they made it in their hermitage-type winery in the Barrio de Bodegas de Quel, following a tradition of more than 300 years.
Their adoration for this drink led them to share their “Wine Cult” with the rest of the world and that is why they founded the first Wine Temple in Logroño. They not only created a winery in which to make and age their wine, but a special place where, cared for by the God of Wine and Mythological Heroes in the form of enormous sculptures, paintings and stained glass windows, the Ontañón Familia wine reaches its maximum expression.
The “Cult of Wine” draws from the sources of all the classical religions that praised wine as a magical elixir and relies especially on Greek mythology as an iconic and narrative element. In any case, it is a contemporary and fun service in which all people are welcome.
