At Bodegas Amaren we feel and love the vineyard. For this reason, we propose a sensory journey to get to know the expression of the vineyard in the winery. We also choose old vines of Tempranillo, Graciano or Garnacha, the jewels of our vineyard. Glass in hand, we take our guests on a tour of the winery to learn about and enjoy our great single-varietal wines, tasted directly from the barrel and accompanied by products from local winemakers.

Each Bodegas Amaren wine has its own personality. Each tells its own story, offering for your enjoyment the tale of its origins from the soil, its varieties, climate and character. Each and every one of them has its moment, its role and only demands the opportunity to express, in a glass, its full potential. Allow them to surprise and delight you.
Bodegas Amaren was born in honor of Ángeles, wife of Luis Cañas and mother of Juan Luis ( owner of Bodegas Luis Cañas, in Rioja Alavesa).
In 1995, Juan Luis Cañas was planning to make a different sort of wine, a wine that expressed the personality of the variety to the maximum. This would be 100% Tempranillo from several plots of old vineyards. At that time, his mother Ángeles died and that is when he created, his new fragrance: Amaren Reserva Tempranillo 1995.
Amaren which, in Basque means “of the mother”, was a tribute to Ángeles (Luis Cañas´s wife) a fundamental pillar in the creation and development of Bodegas Luis Cañas. From then, Juan Luis worked to honour his beloved mother with her own winery, which was founded in 2016.
Concrete, stone and wood, is the essence of Amaren.
