Medrano
Description of the municipality
Medrano, apart from being a village that borders Navarrete to the north, Sojuela to the south, Entrena to the east and Hornos de Moncalvillo to the west, is a very common surname in the region and also in neighbouring Navarre, where it acquired noble status.
The great variety of opinions on its origins do not give us a clear idea.
There is a hypothesis, however: according to the soundest etymological explanation, Medrano means ‘hillock near the river’. It is a place name derived from a maternal inheritance that evolved from Maderno to Madreno until it ended up as Medrano.
