Bien sea tras el trabajo o la reunión en nuestra bodega, o después de una visita a nuestra finca o de haber realizado alguna actividad, el grupo podrá disfrutar de una experiencia gastronómica en nuestro restaurante. Allí, en un mirador excepcional al viñedo, podemos ofrecer a nuestros invitados un almuerzo de productos procedentes de una esmerada selección de proveedores locales y para los grupos que disponen de más tiempo, una comida gourmet primando igualmente el producto local y de temporada.

About the winery

When the path is wisdom, when the time has been gained... The origins of this wine cellar, prior even to the time when the Denominación de Origen guarantee of quality was created, have enabled it to preserve the word Rioja in its trademark. Rioja Vega is today one of the few wine cellars whose winemaking tradition dates back to the dawn of wine culture in this outstanding region.

During those years, Felipe Ugalde, who later joined forces with the Muerza family, was able to take full advantage of the knowledge of these pioneers and later, pass it on to his heirs. More than 125 years have gone by since then and, by continuing with the same attitude, we have steadily gained wisdom, experience and knowledge by adapting to technological advances and carrying out research in order to be able to offer the wide range of wines we have today.

Only classics are truly modern.

To make our wines, we are equipped with state-of-the-art wine making facilities: separate hoppers for unloading and stainless steel tanks of various sizes for special wine making. And in our hall containing the casks and large crates, just like in years gone by, taking advantage of the unique conditions provided by underground storage, are the American and French oak casks from our cooperage, where our wines mature over time and are its allies.


Recognize the results of history. The itinerary begins at the very moment when we reach the estate and admire its cellars, finding out about its secrets while drifting on its grounds. During this first visit we will discover that learning about the history of our estate means learning about the ancestral origins of wine culture.

Discover our knowhow. After appreciating the fruits of nature, we will show how to this tradition -passed on from father to sons, we have added the most sophisticated technology in order to make the best wines possible. We will learn the meaning of words such as maceration and tannins…. And we will visit our winemakers’ magic lab.

Become time’s ally. Once we reach the ageing room, we will be surprised by the quietness, the rest and the silence of time passing by. And breathing and savouring a selection of samples of French and American oak wood, we will discover the difference between them and the flavours with which these wood types contribute to our range of wines.

Enjoy our wines. At last, the moment of truth. In the shop we will have the chance of taking part in a guided tasting where we will learn how to track down wine’s nuances, surely bound to seduce our senses.

Savour our food and wine pairing. The time to share finally arrives, the time to enjoy the most exquisite food and wine pairings for the most demanding palates. At the estate restaurant, our chefs select the best season products and offer us a delicious matching with a careful choice of our range of wines.
