Description of the municipality

The first references to Zarratón appear in some 12th-century documents, describing donations made to San Millán de la Cogolla and Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

 

Many centuries ago it had a fortified enclosure that later became the palace of the Counts of Casafuerte. Later on, sometime in the 17th century, it became the property of the Marquises of Morata.

 

The building is now a hotel and restaurant under the name of Casafuerte.
