Description of the municipality

Known for its wines all over the world, the city of Haro has several tourist and cultural attractions.

It has an excellent artistic and cultural heritage that is worth getting to know: much of it can be discovered by simply strolling around the town and reaching La Herradura, the historic quarter declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1975, plus the numerous noble houses distributed around the town and its churches.

They all evoke an artistic past that conveys the town’s importance throughout history and up to the present day.

Vines and wine are the economic and industrial drivers of the district, which conserves some of the oldest and best-known Rioja wineries. However, wine is more than just a product here, it is the cultural expression of the entire town.

A new form of tourism that attracts followers are the Wine Routes: visitors meet the people who make wine and learn about how they do it by visiting their wineries and enjoying their gastronomy and customs.

La Rioja Alta and Haro are wine-producing areas par excellence. Getting to know them through the wine routes is a really great experience, not just for the number of wineries and vineyards but also for their quality and the excellent range of tourism products on offer in the surrounding area.
