The municipality is located in the lower reaches of the valley of the River Cárdenas and is mainly dedicated to agriculture, with grape-growing standing out over cereals and potatoes.

Its industrial and service sectors depend to a large extent on the village’s proximity to Nájera, just 7 km away.
