Rioja Alavesa
Lanciego
The locality’s clay-chalk soils give its wines higher quality. The 600 or so inhabitants of Lanciego share and possess a great wealth of landscapes and vineyards and olive groves that attract tourists to the foot of the Cantabria mountain range in Rioja Alavesa every year.
This kind of soil requires continuous and tricky work, as the subsoil is like a wall of sandstone-chalk rock and the earth is rather clayey. This makes the process of production, preparation and collection of grapes more difficult.
